How a stove installation works

A simple, four-stage process: enquiry, site assessment, written quote and installation with a proper handover.

The process at a glance

  1. 1

    Tell us about your home

Send a quote request or call us. A few details and photos of the room, fireplace and chimney help us understand the job.

  2. 2

    Site assessment

We visit to check the room, chimney or flue route, hearth, ventilation and local smoke control rules before recommending anything.

  3. 3

    Clear written quote

You get a written quote that sets out the stove, flue, hearth and any building work, so you know exactly what is included.

  4. 4

    Installation & handover

We fit the stove carefully, test it, show you how to use it safely and leave you with the paperwork for your records.

1. Your enquiry

Use the quote form or call us on 0191 603 0224. Tell us which room the stove is for, whether you have a chimney or fireplace, and anything you already have in mind. Photos of the fireplace or chimney breast, the hearth and the chimney stack from outside are really helpful. If you have already bought a stove, send us the make and model.

2. The site assessment

We visit to look at the room, the chimney or the route for a new flue, the hearth and floor, and the ventilation. In older homes we check the condition of the chimney and may carry out a smoke test. We also confirm whether your address is in a smoke control area, because that affects which stoves and fuels you can use.

3. Your written quote

You receive a written quote that sets out what we recommend and why: the stove (or confirmation that the stove you own is suitable), the flue or liner, the hearth and any building work. It also says what is not included. There is no pressure to go ahead.

4. Installation day

We protect your floors and furniture, fit the stove, flue and hearth, and test everything. Many straightforward installations take a day or two; jobs with chimney or hearth building work take longer, and we will tell you what to expect in your quote.

5. Handover and paperwork

Before we leave, we show you how to light and control the stove, what fuel to use, and how to look after it. Installing a stove is notifiable building work in England, so it must be signed off either by a registered competent person or through Building Control. We explain in your quote how your installation will be signed off and what paperwork you will receive. A carbon monoxide alarm is fitted in the room, as the Building Regulations require.
